Party on the Beach, Sat 21st Dec
We're having a party to celebrate the banning of PIB dumping at sea.
Everyone is invited.
Bring your family, dogs and party hats.
Its winter solstice too....
Lansallos beach at noon.
Bring your wine, beer, BBQ food and swimming costumes (yeh).
Party update: issued 18th Dec
We've lined up some fantastic British weather for our party on Saturday. So the waves on Lansallos beach are going to be BIG ones. Like this here.
No its NOT CANCELLED.
Low tide is at 13:30....so there's plenty of room on the beach too. Tell everyone to come on down for a big winter solstice blow.
This is the latest Met Office chart here.
It just needs to shift a wee bit north on Sat and it might be a lovely day.
I've ordered two TRACTOR bucket loads of wood for the fire from Frogmore farm (being dropped off in the field by the crab apple tree). Just in case we can't get the fire going though...do bring thermos flasks of mulled wine and your sausages already cooked.
Athene has to have a walk....so whatever the weather...we'll be there at noon.
Directions: Park at either Lansallos National Trust car park and walk down from there....or park at Frogmore car park and walk from there. Mobile phones don't work...so the people walking the coastal path to join us will have to rely on good old fashion OS Maps. Hurray.

Or Cornwall Beaches here
And all dogs are welcome. The Cornwall Beaches Guide is incorrect.
Lanteglos website is the far more reliable here. Ho ho ho.
Happy Christmas to everyone up country.
Looking forward to seeing you in 2014.
The Lerryn Seagull Race, 30th Dec
Organised by the River Lerryn Yacht Squadron, the Annual Seagull Race is less of a race and more of a lottery for survivors. Various contraptions powered by British Seagull engines head off down the river belching smoke, crashing into river banks or conking out after just a few yards. The fancy dress outfits always get in the way, and each year teams realise that they should have spent less time on the outfits and more time preparing their engines. A few super-duper streamlined boats whizz up and down the course in record time, but the majority are happy just to finish. Next year’s race tactics are mulled over in the Ship Inn at Lerryn, the local pub where everyone congregates for the prize giving.
- Crazy boat race
- Fancy dress
- Prizes and drinks
- Family event
